Jeff,
Yes. Both measurements are from where the metal stick enters the plastic handle (or cap). In other words, there is only about 3/16" to 1/4" between min and max!!!!

Karl,

Regarding the 3-1/2" mark, this mark is measured on the dipstick from
the orange cap down, correct??

On mine, the mark is very close to the bottom of the dipstick. 3/16" up
from the bottom seems about right.

-Jeff

-----Original Message-----
From: C320-List-bounces at catalina320.com
[mailto:C320-List-bounces at catalina320.com] On Behalf Of Karl
Mielenhausen _/)
Sent: Friday, December 16, 2005 10:19 AM
To: C320-List at catalina320.com
Subject: FW: [C320-list] Yanmar dipstick

I've got the Kanzaki KM2P transmission, 2.21 gear ratio.

My (exposed) dipstick shaft is 3 11/16" in length with a fill mark
(notched ring) at 3 1/2".
