Heheheh, if you get a chance, look at the nav charts
for the NC estuine waters. 

We have a lot of shallow water with a sand and mud
bottom. Most dockage involves at least some time with
the keel in the mud at the slip or while going and
coming. Around here, the slips are often deeper than
the surrounding channels. We have no perceptable lunar
tide, but wind can  drive the water level a couple of
feet pretty quickly. 

In shallow water marinas such as where Commitment is
docked, the keel wears a depression in the slip that
we refer to as a "worry hole". Any paint on bottom
would be gone in a few days and the paint on top edges
of the wing goes away pretty quick as well.
