[C320-list] Jib and Mainsheet Lengths

CRA,
Actually there is a way to use the main winches differently. When we race
we like to have all the weight on the windward or high side and we like to
keep the sails in trim. You can do this by using the leeward winch as a
turning block and running the jib sheet to the windward winch. This usually
also gives the trimmer a better angle to see the telltales on the jenny
luff.

John,

Actually, I was refering to the smaller winches over the companionway. I use

both of the primary winches for the port and stbd jib sheets in the normal
manner. (Not sure how else one could do it.) The smaller port winch is not
used much as only one of the reefing lines (we have 2 reefs) and the
spinaker halyard (I do not have a spinaker) are fed to it. I forget what the

third line is. On the stbd small winch, the main halyard, 2nd reefing line,
and a the boom vang line are fed to it. When I say "fed to it" I mean that
these lines are in routed thru the rope-clutches that are mounted to the top

deck.
