Nigel,
Did the dealer get it fixed?

  Thanks Guys,
  Appreciate your advice.
I got it wrong about the bilge pump. It's the bearing attached to the
bellows shaft that has come adrift.

Nigel - For the 50-hour service, I had a Yanmar dealer do the service. At
the same time, he did a seminar for me to teach me what to do the next
time.
The engine now has 460+ hours and all work since 50 hours has been done by
me. The money spent then was money well spent.

Following is what he did that day: change oil and filter, change
transmission oil, adjusted valves, changed primary and secondary fuel
filters, bled the air out of they system, checked shaft alignment with a
feeler gauge, adjusted the packing gland, and repaired a tiny coolant leak
in the temp sender unit. He also showed me how to change the impellor and
  coolant.

The manual that came with the boat (and is on my boat currently) has a
section on engine maintenance intervals. You may want to take a look at
  that also.

For standing rigging, I had a rigger that I have known and trusted for
many
years come down and tune the rig. I think he charged about $50. Again,
  money well spent.

  Hope this helps!

Does anyone know just what the first 50hr warranty service is supposed to
  cover.
When I bought the boat, I was told to return to the dealer at 50 engine
hours for an engine service and tensioning of the standing rigging plus
any
  warranty repairs.
Despite my requests before and after the service, the dealer has been very
coy about the matter and not given me any idea of what should have been
done
or what was done. In fact, if it wasn't for a quantity of diesel in the
bilge, there was no evidence that anything was done.
  Cheers,
  Nigel
