Nobody makes their Mercury engines using their technology, (ie they dont
license it) but they do buy technology made by others and sell it as
Mercury. When i bought my Johnson 8 recently I was amazed at how many makers
shared the same engines. The Yamaha 2 I had years ago was the same as the
Mariner 2 for example.
Johnson and Evinrude still make in Wisconsin, at the that's what the label
says on mine. They are owned by Bombardier now.
