[C320-list] RE: The List - Owners', Members', Whatever

Jeff's opinion is sound. The List is a valuable items to all who enjoy and
love the C320. Making it broadly available will make the Association
stronger (and will stimulate the paying of dues).

So, this is a members list not a owners list.

Hi,

There is still some discussion on that topic, but, *personally*,
I believe it should try to include all the owners, regardless of
whether they are currently a member or not. It adds far more value
this way, and may encourage some to join.

The association holds different amounts of value to different people,
and at different times.

We should encourage membership for the good of the association and
reward those who join.
The decision of whether someone sees enough value to join, should be
up to the individual.
The challenge to the association should be to provide enough value to
make people want to join, and not simply because some services get
shut off for them, or that they can't attend the annual regatta,
etc. The collective is better with more participants, even if some
of them aren't dues paying members.

My opinions only.

-Jeff

Done...

Search for "Manual" in the little search box near the upper left
corner of the website.

Hi Matt,

I installed (replaced old Autohelm plotter and radar) last winter with a new

C80, GPS and radar. Wind Dancer is hull #394 so we have the old style
straight pedestal with 1" tube. If you have like I do, a full W, D, S, GPS
and AP instrument pod complement the tubes on both sides are full of wires.
With the C80 I also needed to change to the new GPS system. We were able to

install all of the new GPS, C80 pwr, GPS etc. cables in the tubes except
when we got to the radar dome. The new radar dome system uses a slightly
larger cable that includes power and all data wires. This hummer was not
going to fit into any of the tubes and after checking with Edson I
determined that there were two options; one, buy a whole new pedestal which
would mean removing all current wiring, rebuild the pedestal and then rewire

or two, run the radar cable external by coming up through the cockpit sole
right next to the pedestal base and wire tie it to the inside of the
starboard column. With the project already over budget, option two was the
least cost in dollars and time. Since the deck grommet for the radar cable
is installed behind and between the pedestal tube deck mount and teak
swing-up table nobody really knows the cable is there.

Hope this helps a little bit. You will love the C80 and the radar
especially if you have had experience with older systems.

Good luck!

Ralph
