[C320-list] New Boat....

I had a great time climbing around boats Saturday at the Miami Boat Show. I
was sorta disappointed at the larger Catalina's, except for the Morgan 440.
Beautiful boat with tons of room. Good choice! Other interesting things,
Benetoys come standard with in-mast furling on all boats except the 32. I
really find that hard to believe. I would never have in-mast on my boat (I
do race quite a bit) but the in-boom seems sweet without the loss in
performance.
Spent a lot of time planning for retirement (quite a few years off!) and
looking at Catamarans in the 40-48 ft. range. Talk about space!
OK for now I am still quite satisfied with my 320, my wife just wishes
leather was a fabric choice back in 2000 and they offered the inner-spring
mattress back then.

Correct....I test sailed a 440 on SF Bay in Dec and loved the in-boom
furler, it added a tremendous amount of flexibility to the sail plan.....

In-boom furling's the way to go---you have the Leisure Furl off-shore model
with the furling gear forward of the mast--I have the Leisure Furl coastal
model with furling gear in the boom at the aft end. Both work great---your
44 came with power deck winch for hoisting/furling, I added a Lewmar #34
power deck winch (replaced the starboard #30 deck winch.

I ordered the in-boom furling, I am not a proponent of in-mast
furling--performance sucks and it can be difficult to reef....

No way am I going to go cruising and want to worry about wood on the
topsides....I saw hull #1 at the Annapolis Boat Show in 2004 and that's the
first thing I commented to Gerry about, I asked him what was he thinking?!!
:)

I have ordered it with the A/C and 8kw genset from the factory, I plan to
install watermaker and other goodies once it's delivered...

Orlando,

Congratulations! I crawled around on Hull #5 yesterday at the Boston Boat
show.
You definitely got yourself a live aboard!! There is just tons of room--the
one
thing I would not want is teak toe rails and it sounds like you are thinking

alike. Just curious how you ordered the rig? In boom furling, standard??
