Jeff,
I feel your pain on trying to run an additional wire through the pedistal. 
Those of us with "mature" 320's have the smaller diameter tubing pedestals 
and there is just only so much room for us "techies" to run wiring for all 
our goodies.  I ran into the same problem two years ago on Wind Dancer when 
I upgraded the plotter and radar to the new Raymarine C80 series.  The new 
radar has a larger cable between the dome and pod and I just could not get 
that large a cable inside the tubes so we had to opt for running it external 
coming through the deck next to the starboard pedistal post using a Forspar 
waterproof cable gromit and wireties up the exterior of the post.  I've 
determined that I'm really the only one who is aware of the cable being 
there since is mostly hidden by the teak fold down table.

BTW:  Edson offers us an upgrade to the newer large diameter pedistals.  I 
don't even want to think about that task, let alone the price.  I can live 
with the one I've got, including a external radar wire.
