karl i saw yiour pictures, what did you need to cut the hole?  how did you measure exactly where to locate it?

Just added a 6" Deckplate to the aft engine cover for checking the oil level. Found the Catalina "soundproofing" to merely be a balsa sandwich. Also added a teak handrail to aid in cover removal. Plan to do the same for the forward cover also.
