[C320-list] Schaefer Roller Furler Hoist

Has anyone adjusted their forestay?  I removed the 4 screw that allow the furler to be pulled up to access the turnbuckle but the furler will not hoist far enough to allow access to the turnbuckle.  Does one of the foil pieces require removal?
   
  The reason for this is I'm installing an adjustible backstay.  The backstay turnbuckles are turned out as much as I dare but they are still tight and I don't want to exerience a "ping" as they strip the last thread on their way out.  I'll loosen the forward shrouds next but still, the forestay seems to have a lot of tension.
