That drawer has never bothered me...I guess that the sailing characteristics
outwiegh the size of the drawer....in any case, the 440 drawers seem big,
guess I'll spend time contemplating that...

That's correct, this drawer is approx. four-inches deep.  However it only
opens a little more than an inch making it rather useless and difficult to
reclaim items you stow in there.  Next season, mine will open a full four
inches as I'll be making changes to this bank of drawers during lay-up
season.  No question about it, this is a challenged area aboard our boats.
Maybe that's why Orlando and others have been infected by a massive case of
Two-Footitus".

The newer boats must have a shallower drawer.  On Proud Mary there is
probably 4" of storage space.  We keep a cork screw, church key (bottle
opener), and some small spreading knives it there.
