But checking the clearance at the top is very important!  It is 
important to make sure that when you hoist your jib a bit higher that 
the upper swivel does not hit the top of the foil.  This can damage the 
foil, and prevent the swivel from working properly.  And that can in 
turn lead to a sail that won't furl and damage to the forestay if you 
force it.  The owners manual specifically has warnings along these 
lines.  It could also lead to a bad lead angle for the halyard.  In 
short, whether this works or not depends on the details of your specific 
boat and sail.  Six inches is quite a bit of additional hoist.  If I 
were going to raise mine that far I would consider getting the sail 
recut.  Another, and in my mind better option, would be to ask a 
sailmaker to recut the foot so that the clew is higher, but leave the 
tack (and thus the hoist length) alone.
