I think the Hella is a bit smaller than the Perko. In my case it may be best to go with Perko's recommendation
if I can't find it at WM...

I had the Hella on my 2000 model boat.  I guess Catalina jumped around a
little.  The do look very much alike in the catalog.  What mattered was 12v
20watts and most important the gx5.3 base.  Once I had this info it was easy
to find one that fit.  What happened was my bulb was lost when the yard
dropped my mast for transport last fall.  I truck it home for winter.  So I
did not have a bulb to match only the fixture on the mast with the typical
looking halogen 2 hole socket.

I guess there are different suppliers for these bulbs? I also noticed that
Hella has a combo steaming/deck light unit of their own. But on our boat it
seems we have the Perko unit. Would the Hella lamp fit the Perko unit ??

I don't think west marine has a part no.  The description below is what you
need especially the base type.  I have since seen one at Target of all
places.  If they do the same for you as they did for me Hella may have
already mailed you one. They never called or emailed one just showed up a
few days later. 

20W 12V SPECIALTY LAMP GX5.3 BASE - Used in a number of low voltage track
light fixtures with the only difference being the cover glass across the
reflector.

Thanks David. I had been looking under the Perko name and could not find
anything at WM or BW. They do have some Hella parts, so perhaps with this
info I can get it there.

I did send Perko an email yesterday but have not heard back yet.

I had a hard time finding one a while back and sent an email to the

manufacturer (I'll have to look it up again) with my contact info and never

got an email back but did get a bulb in the mail a week later.

Go figure.
