Orlando - It was very easy to deploy the pole when it was deck mounted.  I
am not totally comfortable yet with deploying from the mast but that will
come with a bit of experience that I hope to get over the next 18 days! -

Hi Paul - The pole mount was installed by a rigger as I was recovering from
disk fusion surgery at the time.  So I don't know exactly how he installed
but I am sending the parts list under a separate e-mail to you.  I think
that a 12-22 pole might be too much for a 135; I have a 155 genoa.

I doubt that we will be at the East Coast Rendezvous at the end of July.  We
are going to San Diego in September for the C320 Rendezvous and are leaving
this Saturday for 18 days on the Bay, returning on 7/4.  To go to Baltimore
is 2 days up and 2 days back alone.

C320.

I must have deleted your email, so I apologize if I am repeating what has

Pole size is  12-22   Correct for a 135 Genoa  ?

What length of track did you install on the mast  ?

How far off the cabin top or from the mast base is the lower end of the
track ?

How did you attach track to the mast  ?   rivots, screws, etc.  ????  I
don't want to fray any of the lines.

My mainsail cover is similar to yours - no slots.  I loosen the Dutchman a
lot to have enough slack for the cover.  I put a small piece of tape around
the line to mark the position for both sail up and sail down.

Are you going to the East Coast All Catalina at the end of July  ?

Jeff - Does your mainsail cover have slots for the Dutchman?  If not,
wouldn't you need to slacken the Dutchman quite a bit in order to get the
cover on?  That is what I need to do with Sea Shadow's cover. - Allan

Hi All,

   My dutchman line (the continuous loop line itself) has finally sprouted
so many puckers of the core out through the cover that the blocks snag and
don't run up/down very easily.

I've seen the single line version that essentially has a cable with fixed
blocks holding the mono-filament line.  No clothsline loop, no jam cleat, no
turning-blocks, just a line with the dutchman blocks fixed in position that
gets attached to the topping lift and run up to the top of the mast.

Rather than have a new closeline loop made, I'm considering just taking a
scrap of my old halyard, measuring off the positions of the blocks and
knotting the blocks in place.

Seems like then, all I'd have to do is ease the topping lift a little when
raising the sail, and tighten it up prior to dropping the sail.

With the clothesline loop, I also have to do ease/tighten the topping lift
just a little, as well as running the dutchman blocks up/down.

Sounds to me like I save one step when dropping the main.

Has anyone else converted the continuous loop dutchman to a single?  (I've
sailed with the single on a C380 and it seemed easier).
