[C320-list] Bedding Compound

3M 5200 is great stuff for rebedding stanchions. If you ever need to remove
the stanchion in the future, you simply take a chain saw and very carefully
cut through the deck and hull around where the stanchion is bolted through
the deck. Then you throw away the stanchion plus the deck and hull material
you have cut away (it's only about a square foot or so), rebuild your deck
and hull, get a new stanchion, and use something like Boat Life Life-Calk
(the 3M equivalent is 101) the next time to bed the stanchion to the deck.
AND PLEASE DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME OR TAKE ME SERIOUSLY ON THIS ONE!

But in all seriousness, 3M 5200 should be used ONLY if you know that the
part you are using it for is NEVER going to need to come up again. The
marine stores can help you understand the difference between sealants (like
polysulfides, which is what you need for stanchions) and adhesives
(polyurethranes, which is what 3M 5200 is) and sealants with adhesive
properties. Don't use silicones.

Hope this helps.

I think it's 3M 5200 marine sealant, but the tube is in my boat so I'm not
positive.
