[C320-list] prop install

Russ-I also bought an Autoprop which is arriving in early April. The
website for the dealer has installation instructions which are very easy.
Take off the old prop, slide on the new AutoProp without the key in the
keyway and mark forward motion, put the key on and then slide on the prop
making sure it goes as far the mark and if so tighten the nut and then screw
in the retaining screw to keep the nut from working loose.

I have the OEM 3 blade prop and last fall after 4 seasons since launch of
the new boat the prop came off very easily with one of my larger automotive
gear pullers. The gear puller is large enough to rest on the end of the
prop shaft and its fingers reach between two of the prop blades to the
forward part of the prop and a few twists of the puller and the prop is off.

my new Autoprop is to arrive in the next few days, so I have read this
thread with much interest. Anymore tips out there? Any tips on
installation of the Autoporp specifically?

I removed my 2-blade factory prop and installed the 2-blade Gori folder a
couple of years ago. Gori's instructions are clear and easy to follow
although I took a couple of extra steps.

You will need a prop puller to get the old prop off. It's a simple device
which you may be able to borrow or rent from your boatyard. My prop came off
without too much effort. You'll need to attach and tighten down the puller
to the shaft and prop. Then tap the end of the puller with a hammer. If it
doesn't loosen, tighten the puller a little more and tap,tap again. Repeat
if necessary. It will eventually break the prop loose.

I cleaned the exposed prop shaft and polished it with a fine emery cloth.
Get some valve grinding compound from an auto parts store and apply it
uniformly to the cleaned shaft. Seat the new prop firmly on the shaft
(without the key) and rotate it by hand around the fixed shaft. If there's
not a perfect mating of the prop to the shaft, you'll feel unevenness as you
turn the prop. If this happens, keep turning the prop by hand until the
valve compound takes down any high spots. It will finally turn smoothly.
Clean the shaft and prop ID. Place the prop back firmly on the shaft without
the key in place. Use a felt tip pen or dark pencil to mark the exact spot
on the shaft where the end of the prop is seated (strut end of the prop).
When you re-seat the prop with the key in place, the prop must return to the
spot you marked. If not, the key isn't seated correctly or is jammed in the
slot and should be re-positioned. Once done, you can follow the Gori
instructions to complete the
installation. It was fairly easy considering it was my first time doing it.

That shiny new Gori 2-blade folder looks like a piece of art sitting on the
end of the shaft. Now if we could just find a way to keep it looking brand
new underwater. Call me if I can be of any further help.

After much research I bought the two blade Gori. Now it's time to install
it. I have never installed a prop before, but I can certainly read and
follow Gori's instructions. My questions: Will I have any difficiculty
removing the old prop? I'm not that naïve to think if I just loosen the nut
holding it onto the shaft the prop will just slide off so what sort of tools
should I bring with me to the boat tomorrow morning? Also I have read about
'prop-pullers' in past posts. Do I really need a prop puller, will I need to
make one, anyone have a picture? Any and all advice will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance
