[C320-list] GFO and Autoprop first report

Dave

Do you have an Autoprop? I have multiple runs in slack water using a
calibrated knot meter cross checked with the GPS and get about 7.1 kts at
+/- 2700 RPM. They key it the self pitching Autoprop.

We have a group at Coronado YUC that are really heavy into the predicted log
racing business. From them I have learned to calibrate my B&G knot meter on
a measured mile here in San Diego. In their "races" the winners can do a
"race" with less than one percent error.

Cheers,

I've got very little time on the boat, and none on other 320s, but:

- The tach was checked during the survey last fall; reported to be spot-on.
- The knotmeter paddlewheel had to be replaced. I did so, and took the
time to calibrate it accurately by doing multiple runs (with and against
the current) against both know landmarks and the GPS.
- The bottom is clean through rough.

I see 6 knots at 2700-2800 RPM. I frankly don't understand some of
these high speeds folks are quoting.

Of course, it was the same thing with the previous boat. I went through
the same process, and other folks always seem to report higher speeds.
Reporting bias? Or maybe I just buy slow boats.
