Jeff,
Are you sure it was 1 1/4" OD? I think there is about 1/8" brass and 1/8
rubber bearing times to for 1.5".

Karl,

I replace the cutlass bearing this spring with a Trellex Morse 87-Blackfish.

It measures 1 x 1 1/4 x 4 and has a brass sleeve. I had about 1/32" of play
in the old bearing after 425 engine hours. A knowledgeable Catalina rigger
told me to replace the bearing if I could detect any play at all. When
installed, the new bearing had no play in it. I hauled the boat last week,
and after 100 hours I think the new bearing now has the same amount of play
that the old bearing had. Oh well.
