After a couple years using the pink pop method and then dealing with the foul smell in the Spring, I have discovered that the best and cheapest (no cost) way to winterize the potable water system is to drain the tanks with the pump then connect a shop vac blower to the pump discharge line and blow the water out of the lines one at a time.  This removes all water and doesn't inject anything into your system (assuming you have cleaned the shop vac and hose first).
