[C320-list] Fw: stuffing box packing

I have hull #222 and have only been able to use 3/16" packing. Tried 1/4" but it was too big. Seems odd since most owners report using 1/4" packing including boats around my vintage. All shafts are 1" as far as I know. Hard to believe there would be any variance in the ID of the packing nut?

  Jerry,
I used silicone rescue tape http://www.rescuetape.com/<http://www.rescuetape.com/> to stop the water. 2 wraps around the stuffing box and shaft. Sealed everything up tight. It sticks to itself so it is easy to remove when you are done.
