[C320-list] V Berth doors revisited

Hello Bob,

I have a 2005 Hull #1058 and what I did was as follows.

I removed the door assembly at the hinges, (3 on the port side) took it home
and removed a little over 1/8 inch along the entire length of the door on
the hinged side (port side with the three double swing hinges) with my 6"
jointer. You could use a table saw, but you would have to take the other
half of the door off first.

Once that was done I recessed the hinges about 1/8 of an inch again, as
almost all of the original recess was removed by the jointer. I then sanded
the corners lightly to take the sharp corners off, and applied two coats of
MinWax Polycrylic (satin).

Works perfectly now. ( my door was so tight before that I could not force it
closed with all my might!)

Don't take off too much, as the door won't stay closed properly. Too little
and you won't be able to open by pulling on the hand recess.

Bill Morack
