The only problem with the better monitor, and only an issue if you
cruise or sail at night, is that it is IMPOSSIBLE to read at night
without flashlight on it, and then it is only VERY DIFFICULT to read.

Check out www.boatfix.com.  The sell the Snake River tank monitor
products and, when I purchased ours about a year ago, their prices were
cheaper. 
A great product, I really like it.   Bought the better monitor because
we
liked the look but will never need to monitor 8 tanks.
