[C320-list] Dinghies anyone?

Jeff,
Louder, yes however "very loud" I would suggest is a salesman's miss
characterization.

Out here in CA the engine is doing really well since it is illegal to sell
two strokes. I did by a one gallon fuel tank with the auto fill top. We
keep it in the dinghy when we go off exploring. It is seldom needed as the
engine is very miserly with fuel unless you are running it flat out. With
our setup the last 1/4 of throttle just seems to increase the noise and fuel
consumption with out a significant increase in speed.

Bruce,

I'm considering the Honda 2hp engine or a heavier Tohatsu 3.5. At Strictly
Sail a Tohatsu salesman told me that the Honda would be very loud because it
is air cooled. Does it seem louder than other small outboards?

  JeffC,
We have the Honda 2 hp and I believe it comes in at 27 or 28#'s. Very
easy
to lift up to the rail. Also small enough that you could probably store
it
in the bottom of the port lazaret. That said we usually leave it on the
  dinghy up on the davits.

  JeffH,

It looks like you found a very good deal at $999 for a Zoom 310. I'd
caution
that iBoats prices aren't always the best. Their current "truckload sale"
price for the 2006 Zoom 310 Aero isn't a great a deal. After you add a
seat
(optional on a 2006 Zoom, standard in 2007), you save less than 10% off
the
price of the 2007. Not what you'd expect for old stock/clearance prices. I
shopped for a Zodiac last fall and bought a 2007 Zoom 260 Aero locally for
$1399. iBoats lists it for $1550. After taxes, iBoats is about $60 more
  expensive than the local guy.

Now I need a good price on a 2 to 3.5 hp outboard. More importantly, I
need
a clever way to hang the motor somewhere low on the transom of the 320. I
don't like the idea of lifting it to the usual position at the top of the
  stern rail.

    Hi All,

We were in the market for a new(-ish) dinghy recently. I happened
across
  a
    sale at iboats.com.

They're selling NEW 2006 Zodiac Zoom 310S for $999.00 with free shipping
  in
    the Cont. US.
It's 10'2" with wood floor, inflatable keel and 16" tubes. MSRP is
over
    $1600.

Seemed like a good deal so I bought one. Hope it floats now...
