On a Catalina boat, the base price and the freight is set by the factory, all others costs--commisioning, etc.,  is set by the dealer.

I think Catalina and other manufacturers merely supply the boat to the  
dealer, who then tacks on the freight, commissioning, etc., fees.
Thus, perhaps it's the particular Catalina dealer, not Catalina, who  
should be faulted for the 'low ball' show prices one may obtain.
