I agree - demand new batteries.  Let the dealer figure out how damaged they
are.

This is a new boat, right?  Then given he's confirmed the dealer left  
the batteries charging for several days,
I think he deserves a new set of batteries regardless what anyone  
thinks of their condition.
The dealer, Catalina, and the charger manufacturer can have hissing  
matches over who pays.
