Nope, no screws. The screwed on flange on table top is press fitted onto the
post. I simply pull up on the table top and the post pulls out of the
flange. No need to unscrew anything. Now I'm not sure this compression fit
is designed to pull out, but it does and it works work well. When i put the
table top back in place it always presses down nice and tight.
Just try pulling straight up on the table top and see if it separates from
the post. Good Luck

So you unscrewed it from the underside of the table? Seems reasonable. Or
was your post attached the the table top some other way.

Mine comes off at the table top where it connects to the post and does not
involve using the screw knob at all. IE) the post stays in position and can
be lowered to get it out of the way. This allows you walk around room, much
better when moving batteries around. It was a very handy arrangement for me
when I installed a dedicated starting battery just forward of the strbd
house bank.
It may be that some of the tables out there will not separate at this joint.
