Darrell,
Definitely should not trust the flapper valve from keeping you boat on the
surface! If you boat does have thru hull for direct discharge then you
should have a vent for the head's output hose. Our boat does not have a
direct overboard option, just the macerator or pump out.

I am curious why if there is an anti siphon loop on the head intake hose why
there isn't one on the head output hose, couldn't the same thing occur if
you had the Y valve switched to pump directly overboard and you left the
thru hull open . I don't think I would trust the flapper valve in the head
to prevent the toilet from flooding.
