[C320-list] iPod

Hi Mike,

There are a few options. I've been scheming over a few ideas, similar
to what you've mentioned. I wanted to run it by a few audiophiles to see
what they thought.

Essentially it is a medium quality multi-channel car amplifier with RCA
(high level) inputs and a minimum of 4 output channels.

For the Ipod itself, I already have a metal case that mounts on the panel
next to the VHF that holds it securely. (I have the Ipod Video)

To control the amplifier better, a speaker selector switch with
balance/volume controls is important, since I have speakers in the Aft
Cabin, main cabin and cockpit. I don't want to be accidentally blasting too
much Alice Cooper or Rap music across the anchorage at 5am. :) (Well,
unless Al Ahlman happened to be moored near us, that is...)

Another piece of the puzzle I don't have in place yet is some cable that
plugs into the ipod's dock connector that has both 12v power leads and RCA
outputs that could be nicely hidden. I could go with the
headphone-jack-to-RCA unit along with the 12V-plug-to-Dock-connector like I
have today, but it makes my ipod look like it's in the intensive care ward
with all these wires poking out of all its orfices...

I have a separate volume control for the cockpit so I don't have to do the
companionway dance to get the volume adjusted topside.

It was still medium low on my "to do" list however.

I just picked up an AM/FM/CD marine unit off eBay for around $80. I got it
specifically because it has an aux input I can plug my iPod into.

It is replacing an AM/FM unit plus a 10-disc changer. I'm keeping the
existing speakers, so it'll be an easy swap.

speakers and I only wish to play my iPod through existing speakers. What
sort of electronic device should I place between the iPod and the speakers?
A 12v amplifier? Can anyone suggest an inexpensive solution?
