This question is more of a personal nature, so I'm happy to receive
replies offline.
As many of you know, here in the Chesapeake Bay we are infested with
jellyfish (our local variety is called a Sea Nettle) for much of the
summer. They can make it extremely unpleasant to swim, especially for
kids & guests. They also can get sucked into your water intake.
I am aware that our variety of jellyfish inhabits coastal bays and
estuaries on the East coast from Long Island Sound to Texas. I'm
curious as to whether sailors in any areas outside the Chesapeake
find jellyfish to be a nuisance as well, to the point that they keep
people out of the water or make swimming less then desirable.
I'm particularly interested in the East Coast and Gulf Coast of the
US, but I would love to hear about any area including outside the US.
I have heard recently that there may be similar problems along the
Southern California coast. Is that correct?
Thanks for any info!
