In Eastern NC, they are generally not much of a problem though they
appear here during the summer months in the saltier parts of our
coastal sounds and rivers. In late July and August we will get higher
salt content and less winds, with the resulting population increase
leading those more tender souls to an increased reluctance to enter
the water.
