Tim,
Essex is a pretty town, you'll enjoy it.  If you're going to be in a 
marina, leave the dink home unless you really, really need it.  It's 
usually just a pain in the neck.  Also, make sure that you visit 
beautiful Hamburg Cove, just 1.5 nm north of Essex on the east side of 
the river.  Pick up a mooring for the day, and enjoy lunch and a swim.  
Have a great sail!
