Two new tools have been added to the Catalina 320 International Association
Tool Loaner Program, courtesy of a donation from Chris Burti. Many thanks
Chris!

The first tool is a Hand Swaging Tool for 1/8", 5/32", 3/16", and 1/4"
standing rigging.

The second tool is a Johnson Marine Hand Crimp Life Line Tool for 1/8" and
3/16" life lines. Both are now available for loan.

The program is about two months old and there have been two major lessons
learned. The first is that it may not be cost effective to borrow the tool
and pay for shipping, packaging and insuring both ways as a few of the tools
are relatively low cost. At least one C320 owner got around this problem by
coming by my house to pick up the tool but that only works for those who
live close to Columbia, Maryland!

The second lesson learned is related to the first. Except for the cutlass
bearing remover - and this is debatable - it probably is not cost effective
to ship outside of the US. This gets real expensive real fast!

So, to help with your decision as to whether or not to borrow a tool,
following is a list of the tools currently available for loan and their
replacement cost for insuring purposes.

Cutlass Bearing Remover - $420
Loos Gauges, PT2 and PT3 - $281
Prop Puller - $107
Keel Bolt Socket, Torque Wrench, Extension Bars - $148
Optical Tachometer - $28
Non-Contact Thermometer - $49
Hole Saws - $75
Hand Swaging Tool - $50
Hand Crimp Life Line Tool - $45

Hope this helps!
