My boat is a 1996 #317 and I suffered with the stock water pump for years until installing the Jabsco VSD pump. The original location was under the sink so I also relocated the new pump under the aft bunk. I ran new Whale water lines under the deck and tied in under the sink. I can't even hear the pump running.
