[C320-list] Prospective 320 buyer

Adam - I don't know when Catalina went to vinylester rubrail to rubrail but
since then, there are no blisters according to Gerry. Again, vinylester is
100% impervious to osmosis. In fact, I don't intend to dry store Sea Shadow
over the winter any longer. I intend to pull her for 2 weeks every other
August, repaint the bottom, change the zincs, clean the underwater metals,
wax the hull, and re-launch. Around here, sailing in August is not pretty
due to heat and humidity anyway. And if you only spent 1K on a blister
repair, something else was going on. I have seen these jobs go at prices
exceeding $300 per foot. - Allan

Hull blisters won't happen to our boats he says? Gee, I would like to
see the empirical data on that. Last haul out I spent nearly $1500
taking care of hull blisters. Gee, and I was the one who said don't
worry about the systems, just go sailing.

Hull 218.

Warmest Blistering Regards,

Adam

In addition to what other list members have pointed out I'd check the
condition of the furler, the AC charger, the cutlass bearing, and rudder
shaft play. Based on what Allen has taught me you do not need to worry
about hull blisters, it just won't happen to our boats. Good luck and
hope to see you on the list with your new boat. Bruce Somerset #671
SoCal PS. We've really enjoyed cruising, racing and day sailing ours.
We would not hesitate to recommend the C320.

I'm considering buying a 2001 Catalina 320. Can any current or former
Catalina 320 owners provide me advice on items to consider when buying a
2001 Catalina 320?

I am especially interested in issues affecting operating systems
(engine, electrical, head, tanks, etc.), the hull, deck and windows
(hull blisters, window leaks, etc.), and rigging including sails.

Thanks!

Barb and Bob
