4D's offer a good amount of capacity for the average cruiser allowing for
compromise space/weight considerations and if not drawn down too deeply, can
be recharged by the stock alternator on short cruises.

If you are a heavy duty cruiser or moor your boat, you may want to consider
a different configuration with greater capacity.

If you are primarily a day sailor and don't use the reefer much, or
typically stay at a slip when cruising,  you could get away with
installing a group 27/group 24 deep cycle battery and a same sized deep
cycle/ starting battery. Use the starter for that purpose and switch over to
the DC on those occasional overnights.
