FYI ...... the Honda EU2000i portable generator easily runs my Mermaid Marine 12,000 btu cool only A/C. I know of several other boat owners who run this same Mermaid A/C unit with the Honda generator. It pulls about 17 amps on start-up and runs at 8-9 amps.

  Based on your intended purpose at a dock without shore power, I would  
  recommend the Honda 2000 for both quietness and power capacity.
   
  Should be adequate watts for anything except an AC.
   
   
  You will need a 110V to shore power inlet cord.  Either buy one made  up or 
  "do-it-yourself" if you feel comfortable and confident to make one  yourself 
  from component parts.  Boat inlet is 30amp , three prong.
