[C320-list] Changing engine mounts

Rod,

At one time or another I have changed all the engine mounts on WindSwept, a
1995 model, but with the Westerbeke. I cannot see why you would have to
take the boat out of the water. You can break the shaft coupling, slide the
shaft back an inch or so and proceed. In my case, I had to remove the
exhaust hose between the elbow and muffler to have adequate access and to be
able to jack the rear of the engine up.

Speaking of raising the engine, I won't describe what I did as it didn't
work as planned. After I was done and recounting how I supported the rear
of the engine, a sailing friend said you can take a deflated basketball,
position it under the engine, then inflate it as needed to raise the engine.

I didn't use this method and cannot speak for how well it would work, but it
sounds like a possibility. Would have to make sure the basketball didn't
press against anything fragile.

For those of you that have had the engine mounts changed on your Yanmar
equipped C320s, do you know if they were changed with the boat still in the
water or in dry dock? Thanks.
