[C320-list] Early Christmas Present

Our past practice is to anchor out most nights that we are at the lake. Its
just one part of the experience. We try for a great dinner under the stars,
glass(es) of wine and some great music. After dark we sometimes catch a
movie (usually sailing related) on a portable DVD player hooked into the
sound system. Just trying to make that possible without pulling out and
hooking up another device. As best I can tell it will add about 4 pounds and
about 0.2% to the cost of the boat. But I sure agree that just laying out
under the stars is better if they are there.

Us too. I installed an AM/FM/CD/MP3/AUX unit that we occasionally use
for low level music and AM news broadcasts, along with a scanner that
tunes the TV band for listening to Jeopardy. We have a computer
that'll play DVD's if we want. That said, there's nothing wrong with
having A/V equipment aboard, particularly for cruisers. Our next boat
(the 40 footer we'll sail off into the retirement sunset on) will have
an LCD TV.
