[C320-list] packing gland & listing to port

re: design flaw:
Gerry Douglas thinks of it more as a characteristic than a flaw. The 320 is faster than most Catalinas. One of the ways it achieves that is via a hull shape which is more tender than other Catalinas. A more tender boat will tend to have a list to one side or the other unless absolutely perfectly balanced. In return for this list, you get better boat speed. That's the context in which Gerry said "get over it" when we asked him about it during the factory tour at the Annual Meeting/Regatta in Marina Del Rey in 2004.

Thanks all for the info on the packing gland issue, since the boat is soon to come out (sob!) this sounds like a winter project, and thanks for the link. Interesting that the port list is a design flaw, at least it doesn't have tires to rotate to compensate... I'll remember to store all the rum to starboard. (And to store the gas can topside.)
