Pull the dipstick and place it on a clean paper towel. You'll quickly see where the oil level is by where it soaks into the towel.

  Has anyone found an effective way to 'read' the level of oil on the dipstick? Every time I check or change the Tranny oil it becomes a 20 minute ordeal to determine if it is at the right level. I've heard about people painting the bottom of the stick so you can see the oil better, but I'm concerned with contaminating the gear box if any of the paint were to wear off. Any tips would be appreciated!
