Some one asked what to do on the acceptance trials. I would suggest the
below. I will also try to pose this on the web page. I am sure you all
have more to add.
I would be sure to add a dripless shaft seal. You need to do this before
the boat goes in the water the first time.

I would suggest 2 days for this. One at the dock the other when underway.

Make sure you fully understand the warranties. How long they are for and
who is supporting each part. What are the phone numbers and names.

Deck
Windlass and Anchor
Lower Chain 20' and test windless for operation.
Understand how to adjust the windlass clutch.
Check for proper storage of anchor line and security
Tie off bitter end of anchor line to the cleat. (Important.}
SS Safety wire all shackle pins
Make a note to add flags for the anchor line length.
Do a function test under way. Ion other words anchor.
Jib and Roller Furler
SS Safety wire all shackle pins
Lower jib and inspect jib halyard for a fair lead
Inspect furler line for a fair lead at the cockpit
Rig jib sheets to cockpit and inspect blocks
Main Sail and Furler is so equipped
SS Safety wire all shackle pins
Lower main and inspect main halyard for a fair lead. (This is critical if a
furling main is installed. A C-350 had the main halyard at the top of the
furler improperly rigged and the main could not be lowered.)
SS Safety wire all shackle pins at top and bottom of sail.
Inspect furler lines for a fair leads
Do a function test underway
Traveler and Hard Vang
Do a function test underway
	Systems
Batteries check for security and connections
Understand the wiring of the house and starting batteries. What does the
battery selector actually select.
Check battery water
Functionally check all the circuit breakers/switches. See if they turn/off
what the are labeled.
Understand the location and purpose of any in-line fuses that many have been
installed with equipment or gages.
Make sure all wires have been labeled. E.G. which is the external 12V.
connection. The wiring in the electrical box may not be labeled well and be
confusing.
If you have added systems like an inverter, TV or DVD player, GPS etc. check
to see what cb controls them and functionally check.
Cabin lights and navigation lights. Check each light for operation. I had
many that were not working at first.
Check the operation of the propane solenoid. You can hear a click when it
operates
Operate the oven and check both burners. Check the oven tempts.
Check the water pressure at all three outlets.
Functionally check the hot water heater. Leave it one a few hours and make
sure it does not leak.
Leave the water pressure on and make sure there are no leaks.
Functionally check the refer by selecting mid range on the dial and leave it
on. After 4 hours with a thermometer check it to be about 40.
Fill the bilge with about 4 inches of water and check both the automatic
bilge pump and the manual pump.
Underway check the dripless seal.
Know where all the thru-hull fitting are.
Know the location of and how to remove the knotmeter for cleaning.
Engine
Check the oil
Fan belt
Overall security after running hard for 1 hour
Check the raw water filter and engine thru hull fittings.
Know where the diesel fuel shut off valve is located
Obtain at least 1 qt of spare engine oil
Observe the water flow at the engine exhaust.
Know the location of the siphon valves and their purpose
Electronics
Check all systems.
If you have an autopilot make sure it is commissioned according to the
makers schedule. This seems to be a mission item as observed on may email
posts over the years. If you can integrate with your GPS check that out.
Test the VHF radio.
SAIL
Test Edson wheel brake
Check the compass against a known course
GPS/Autopilot integration
Sail on many sail points. How does it handle?
Reef the sails, check for a smooth operation
It is important to check for prop vibration at or near hull speed +/- 7.0
kts.
Check engine instruments. Water temp should be about 185. Is the fuel gage
working?
Cross check the GPS against the knot meter.
Post Sail
Check engine
Check Bilge
Shut all thru-hull fittings
Do you smell anything abnormal?
Check refer temp.
Have a cool beer from the working reefer.
