Darrell - We installed the conversion kit for the windlass.  This requires
(as recommended by talking with Maxwell) Acco G-4 high test anchor chain.
The best price we found was $2.44 per foot from Defender in 3/2005.  G-4 is
1/4" hot galvanized carbon steel.

You probably can get away with Acco 1/4" proof coil chain if not going
through a windlass but BBB has smaller links, is a little pricier than proof
coil and will go through a windlass.  Again, however, Maxwell recommends the
high test if going through a windlass although it is the most expensive.

According to a chart I have, 1/4" proof coil has a working load of 1,300
pounds while high test is 2,600 pounds and the BBB is not listed for 1/4"
chain.  Another case for going with high test!

I need to replace the chain portion of my anchor road and I was wondering if

some one could tell me the original chain size as mine is a little coroded. 
I am also wondering if it is is special marine grade galvanized chain or 
something I can just pick up at a good hardware store.
