Joe,

Been shopping around for a spare exhaust elbow myself.
I found Yanmar SKU 104214-13521 for $99.91 at Bay Shore Marine.
The connecting coupling, aka exhaust joint, (which it sounds like you was
where you actually had the failure) is
SKU 104214-13580 for $27.10 and the gasket is 128370-13231 (price not
listed at Bay Shore but I'm sure they have it).
As you may have already discovered, the exhaust joint has both RH and LH
threads, so be careful.

Karl

I found the source Yesterday and it was the exhaust elbow. Chocked full of
black carbon. The elbow looked like hard metal but here it joined the
manifold it felt like pudding. I did replace the hose leading from it to
the muffler as we wrecked it getting it off the elbow but for $15 at WM
worth it for a new one. Question, where is the cheapest place to get a new
elbow for the Yanmar 3GM30F? We have a local Marina that is a Yanmar
dealer but they are probably expensive. It was not stainless and had no
heatshield wrapping so I think it's a Yanmar part. Any ideas on where I
can get a good price?

Thanks Larry. If the shaft is not centered in the log, is there anything
that I can do about this? It seems to me that the two bearings on the
shaft are not adjustable without some serious fiberglass work. Slotting
the engine mounts a little more is probably worth a try as I probably only
need a little more room at the front of the engine. Thanks again Chuck
Northwind #676 -----Original Message----- Chuck, I haven't experienced the
problem you are having but have done enough alignments to know exactly
what you are talking about. Be sure to check that the shaft is centered in
the stern tube (shaft log). With the coupling disconnected and separated
about 1/4 -1/2 inch you can move the shaft athwartships until it hits the
sides of the log and tell if it is centered. It may be that you are trying
to align the engine to a shaft that is not positioned correctly. If this
is not the problem another option would be to extend the slots on the
slotted plate if there is room rather than try to move the hole over a
little in the engine beds. Larry WindSwept C320 #246 -----Original

c320-list at lists.catalina320.com Subject: [C320-list] Engine alignment I
spent several hours yesterday aligning my engine and shaft, but found that
I could not move the front of the engine far enough to port to get proper
alignment. The slots in the front motor mounts are bottomed out and there
is still a lot of horizontal misalignment. And I can't move the rear motor
mounts to starboard and still get the shaft to align. Has anyone else
experienced this? It seems like the shaft is angled to port. If I drill
new holes for the motor mounts, is there a backer underneath the
fiberglass that I can tap into? Thanks for any suggestions Chuck Mueller
