Bruce,

I'm not familiar with the term "grub" screw but a couple of times the bolt
holding the top of the boom vang fell out. The problem was a non-locking
nut had been used and the bolt was a little short. I purchased a longer
bolt and a locking nut - problem resolved.

oops!
I found a tiny (1/4") stainless steel Grub Screw at the base of the mast,
today. We had just finished a 12 to 20+ knot sail.

Any ideas as to where it may have come from .... Spreaders?
We have a Charleston In-Mast rig.

Thanks in anticipation.
