I found that it was so much easier to work on the faucet and water heater if
I remove the drawers and frame below the sink. It's only 4 -5 screws and
it opens up the entire compartment

#182 has 3 rope clutches on the port cabintop for 2 halyards and the
mainsheet, and 2 starboard for the main halyard and the single reefing line,
with a jam cleat only for the boom vang.

The jam cleats are really only there in case you need to remove the
mainsheet from the winch to put a halyard temporarily on it. The boat's
delivered with a little clip that you can flip over top of the jam cleat to
keep the sheet from accidentally falling into the cleat. This clip usually
breaks off in the first day or two.

I've placed two large Harken cam cleats at the aft edge of the cabin top
directly behind where the mainsheet exits the line organizer on each side.
My mainsheet is double ended so it can be trimmed from either side. This
works very well when sailing off the wind and at the dock but you need the
winch to pull the sheet tight enough to control sail shape when sailing
upwind.

Has anyone upgraded the mainsheet jam cleat to some other system? My wife
hates the jam cleats, and I must admit I'm not a big fan, either. I have
been thinking about installing rope clutches. One of my concerns is that
the space on the mounting area is a bit limited on theside where the jam
cleat is located. Does anyone have Aany thoughts or experiences to share?

Thanks Denny. Did you remove the jam cleats when you installed the cams, or
did you leave them installed. It looks like I will have to apply heat to
the jam cleat to remove it, as there is some pretty serious adhesive between
it and the mounting area.

I leave mine on all the time and get 5 to 6 years out of my batteries. I
have 4 golf car batteries in a series. About 2 times a year I cook them to
burn off any build up of hard crystal. Check out the following link for

I have the heart 2000 inverter/charger and leave it on all the time. I add
a little water in the spring. Batteries last 5+ years.

Thanks for all the help on PHRF rating. I measured all the dimensions today
that PHRF NW requires to give me my rating, except for one called "LLJ'
-measured luff length of headsail from tack to head measuring points. This
is the length of my forestay I believe as my headsail is the full height of
the mast. I could not measure this without dropping the headsail and that
was not possible in today's weather conditions.

This must be the same length on all 320's. Does anyone know what it is?

I have an old 320 (the oldest) and last year the head faucet sprung a
(?mulitple) leaks from underneath. Perhaps I didn't get enough
anti-freeze in and it froze. Anyway, I have several questions - 1. I
cannot figure out how to get the darn thing off. You can't reach
anything from below and on top there is nothing to turn except the
faucet itself. I'm tempted to start just twisting the whole faucet.
Any ideas?? 2. If I get it off I might be able to seal the leaks. If
not, I need to get a new one. Whom do I contact at Catalina ?

PS - after a year of arguing with wives and friend-co-owners, my boat
still doesn't have a real name. Just the working title/nick name it got
on the pickup voyage " Smelly Cat" (for obvious reasons) Any thoughts
out there for a good name for Hull #1????

Just behind the aft cabin door there is a draw that can be removed to give
you some access to the bottom of the sink.
See what you can do there

I've found that in the past that in the two I've replaced on my boats
that you can turn something on the faucet on top to get the faucet
off.

Does anyone know if the NavPod instrument housing that came with my 1998
C320 (with ST50 instruments) will fit ST60+ instruments? It is the three
instrument housing that I assume was pretty standard (most pictures I've
seen have a similar setup). I am planning on adding wind and a tridata to
replace th speed & depth that are there now alongside the autopilot
controller.

  Thanks,

I use Old English lemon oil. On the back of the bottle it states: "Ideal
for oak, teak, walnut..." All my teak still looks new!

Speaking of PRHF I am filling out the form for my newly purchased 2000 C320
with a 135% genny. Does anyone know the LP measurement for her, with the
135%?

Thanks in advance for the help
Rick
