[C320-list] very stiff throttle lever

On my 2001 Yanmar 3gm30f, the throttle lever has become? very hard to move.? I disconnected the cable at the engine and the shift cable works fine and smooth. The lever and shaft going into the engine is the problem. Anyone have any suggestions to help?? Thanks in advanced.
