[C320-list] Coal vs. Diamonds - was Regatta Survey

When I tell folks about this list and recommend that they subscribe, I
always warn them that they will have to wade through a ton of coal to get
the occasional diamond. In the 6 years I have been on the list, the amount
of diamonds I have mined have far exceeded any nuisance from wading through
the coal. I have to keep reminding myself also that one's mans coal could
be another's diamond. At the end of the day, there is no way one will ever
get a single diamond from spam. To use the term spam in the same posting as
this list borders on heresy. Back in my day, such heresy would have been
met with the rack, chains and whip prior to the ritual beheading and
immolation by fire. Today, alas, we have only the delete key. Oh the
longing I have for the good old days...

Sea Shadow will be at the annual regatta and probably will be one of the
most "tricked out" C320's you will see. The improvements and additions we
have added over the years are too numerous to mention. Suffice to say,
virtually every single idea came from this list. Had such a list existed
back in my Ericson 30+ days, I very much doubt I would be the grateful owner
of a C320, would have met so many wonderful folks during this period of
ownership, and have so very little discretionary income after feeding the
boat first! Bring on the regatta, the new folks I look forward to meeting,
and the new ideas I hope to get from visiting other C320's. I will be
guaranteed to do my part following the regatta for the economic recovery of
the nation! Plus I get the annual opportunity to thank in person those who
put so much back into this Association.

Jeff and all the other 320 folk,
I have hull #219 and was at the first (1st) 320 regatta, you know, the one
held last century--perhaps others recall the infant beginnings---Back then,
Orlando could wear a yellow whatever and Linda enjoyed it--She has matured,
and SOOO has Orlando!
Over the years since, we have enjoyed the MANY improvements in the
association and the information provided to we--the owners of the
association!. All of the improvements have mostly been because of the
UNPAID efforts of a VERY few members, who wanted to volunteer their talents
to make this association better than it was before.
We have attended the annual regattas held from the pacific to the
atlantic---and have met very many couples whom we consider now as our
friends. We have raced on the second place winner and the third place
winner of the annual "who wants the trophy" races held each time we all
gathered.
This current ditrabe regarding the improvement in the ability to access
information and enjoy the benefits of 320 association and the inability of a
few to handle the "problem" of re-configuring the access paramaters really
dumbfounds me-----I am still trying to get my messages to go to my 320
folder!!!
  I am a registered professional engineer---but retired for 15 years--and
the internet has migrated from a user HOSTILE format, to a user friendly
format--but only for the folk who will devote a little time to using it to
their advantage----
HAVING SAID ALL, THAT TO SAY ALL THIS Thank you Jeff for making this
site a little harder for me to utilize--BUT, a bigger thank you for all the
many thankless hours you have spent making this site (sight) a much more
useful site for the entire association--and when this dinasour (?) finally
figures how I should use it properly---I will thank you EVEN MORE!
Shame on anyone who complains. S/V OBUOY #219

  Hi Bruce,

We've pretty much stopped taking requests for the Regatta Survey at this
point, and acknowledge that some paid members didn't get them. Sorry about
that. It didn't work out quite as well as we'd hoped, but it was a
first-time learning experience that we should be able to improve a lot going
forward.

The question list and survey results will be posted shortly on the website.

By the way, if any members have issues or questions regarding the results of
the survey, how it was done, or have suggested improvements, you should
always feel free to give myself, Karl, or anyone else on the board a phone
call or email and we'll always happy to discuss it.

Contact info is in any recent issue of Mainsheet Magazine.

Jeff,

I never received a copy of the regatta survey because for some reason the
attachment wasn't coming through, so am wondering what questions were asked.
Is it available on the Association site or can you send a copy within an
email (rather than as an attachment)?

Thanks,

I wasn't able to reset those features when setting up the new list.

Visit the following link, log in by entering your email address and the
password you received via email recently.

http://lists.catalina320.com/options.cgi/c320-list-catalina320.com/

If you Don't have your password, enter just your email address, scroll down
and click the "Remind" button to have one mailed to you.

>From there, you're taken to your list membership configuration page. You
should Scroll DOWN the page a ways until you see the "Set Digest Mode"
checkbox.

You may also want to change your password while you're there. The
auto-generated ones are terribly hard to remember.

Cheers!
-Jeff

Jeff,

I lost the digest version in the process, how can I reinstate?

Thanks,
Bruce
