Kirk,
I'm not sure if you really need it. I suppose you could find out by running
a continuity test between the green connector and the ground lug, but I
think I just ran a jumper wire between them.

There was a green wire to the old charger and it was connected as it is on
the new charger, at the 3 terminals where the AC power comes in; Green,
Black and White. But the old charger did not have a separate connection
for
chassis ground, like the new Xantrex does. So I'm a little confused, why I
need to make a chassis ground when I already have an AC Green ground
connected.

Kirk,
There should already be a green wire going to the old charger.
If I remember correctly, the ground wire from the windlass connects to the
negative post on the forward battery.

Great thanks, I didn't realize the chassis ground is for the AC side of
things. So I need to run a wire to the back of the breaker panel and
connect
it to the AC grounding strip, Or can I connect it to the green wire
where
the AC comes into the Xantrex to save a wiring run? So many questions.
On Boomerang the 2 - 4D are located one under each settee, so I need to
identify which connections are which, and can leave the windlass off if
I
want, thanks again.

Kirk,
The chassis ground should be connected to the green wire that goes to
the
AC
grounding strip behind the breaker panel. DC negative and AC ground are
separate circuits, so don't use the DC negative wire.
I installed a Link 20 and connected all the grounds to the shunt except
the
anchor windlass which I left connected to the ground post on battery #2.
Since the windless is connected thru a switch which is usually off, it
won't
influence the reading from the Link 10 (or 20).

Again thanks to Herb, Jon, Bill, Karl, Allan, Jeff and all.
-More Questions
I am starting the installation and have purchased breakers which I
will
install
between the charger and each battery bank to solve that problem. They
were
recommended over fuses by the electrical installer at our yard.
The Xantrex also has a chassis ground. How/where did you all connect
to
this ground. Is the DC ground going into the Neg connection on the
charger
not the same as the chassis ground point. Can I simply jumper over to
the
chassis ground connection from the Neg terminal or do I need to run a
separate wire back to the ground behind the electrical panel?
I also purchased the Link 10 and want to install it. I saw the drawing
on
the website, and see that all loads need to be connected after the
shunt.
These loads inlcude the charger, the windlass, the DC panel etc. Can I
connect those cables
directly to the shunt terminal or do I need a separate ground
connector
installed somewhere near the battery. I intend to use the Link 10 for
the
house bank only (2 X 4D), but if I switch to the starting battery will
the
Link
10 then monitor the starting battery? I have the house on position #1
and
the
starting Batt on position #2.
