DC power to the GPS Map 76 is provided through the 4 wire power-data cable that plugs into the back of the GPS. The Uniden 525 provides an 8 wire connector plug with two pairs of NMEA Data In/Out Wires. The two GPS power-data cable NMEA Data In/Out Wires are connected to corresponding NMEA Data In/Out Wires on the vhf radio connector. I spliced in the hot and ground wire to the 12 volt socket on the panel next to the VHF. I'm able to operate the GPS independently of the VHF. Works great.

Thanks! That sounds perfect. Do you run it off its batteries or is it
wired into the boat's?
