Jeff,

I'll be curious to see how you like it. I've been debating whether to use
this device (cheaper) vs the Lifeguard which I believe goes for close to
$100....

Regards,

Jon Vez

Subject: [C320-list] Fuel Filler Whistle?

Hi All,

At the Boston Boat Show, we saw a product called "Whisalert" (
http://www.whisalert.com/ ). Shelly saw it and said, "great, a device that
tattles on you for peeing off the back of the boat". The sales guy heard
that and said it wasn't a "WHIZZ Alert", but rather for preventing fuel
spills while fueling. J

Naturally we were curious because no matter how careful we are, we always
seem to end up with a spit of diesel in the water.

It gets installed in-line with the fuel vent a few inches away from the hull
vent fitting and is supposed to whistle with air flowing through it.

In addition, It doubles as a catch basin and I measured that it holds just a
hair under 2 cups of fuel.

I questioned him about whether it would really work filling a small tank
where you don't typically fill it at high speed to prevent foaming.

He said he has feedback saying it still works great there from other small
sailboat owners.

So. Has anyone on this list used this gadget? (Well, for $25, it seemed
like it couldn't hurt, so I got one to try out.)

-Jeff
